QMUL and Barts Health TB Centre Symposium: ‘Intensified TB Treatment: Where Are We Now?’

This symposium, celebrating one year of the Queen Mary and Barts Health TB Centre, will feature presentations from principal investigators of recently-completed, ongoing and planned phase 3 randomised controlled trials of intensified TB treatment. Reinout van Crevel (Radboudumc, QMUL) will present findings of the HARVEST trial (High Dose Oral Rifampicin to Improve Outcomes from Adult Tuberculous Meningitis); Suzanne Anderson (MRC CTU, UCL) will present findings of the SURE trial (Effectiveness and safety of shortened intensive treatment for children with tuberculous meningitis); and Graeme Meintjes (UCT, QMUL) will present findings of the NewStrat-TB trial (Testing novel strategies for patients hospitalised with HIV-associated disseminated tuberculosis). Sean Wasserman (UCT, QMUL) will then present an overview of intensified TB treatment strategies for treatment shortening, which will be followed by a panel discussion on future directions for this field.
