Developmental Core
The Developmental Core plays a central role in the Johns Hopkins University TRAC, as a scientific hub to promote New Investigators and Early Stage Investigators through faculty Development Awards, mentoring, and grant writing support and through the facilitation of interdisciplinary collaboration between NI/ESI and senior investigators with the requisite expertise or resources

The Developmental Core is responsible for: 1) Promoting innovative, cross-disciplinary research to fill critical knowledge gaps and providing mentoring; and 2) Providing mentoring and training opportunities for NI/ESI and senior and UHRR Investigators new to TB research.

Specific Aims

  1. Promote innovative, cross-disciplinary research to fill critical knowledge gaps
    1. Award up to 6 Developmental Awards annually to ESI or mid-career scientists new to TB
    2. Support recruitment of researchers new to TB, both NI/ESI and established investigators, for the highest priority research areas in TB
    3. Expand recruitment and support for UHRR investigators at JHU among NI/ESI and mid-career scientists across the university who are new to TB
    4. Assist JHU TRAC Steering Committee in evaluating programmatic needs as novel research opportunities arise
  2. Provide mentoring and training opportunities for NI/ESI and senior Investigators, with a focus on UHRR investigators new to TB research
    1. Augment individual mentorship with Internal Scientific Reviews of grant proposals, including Writing Accountability Groups (WAGs), a K-Club and a K2R Club
    2. Assist Administrative Core in engaging multidisciplinary expertise and facilitate exchange of ideas and methodologies through a weekly TRAC Seminar Series and other meetings and workshops, and the annual TB Scientific Meeting and TRAC Data Fair
